Background

For over 25 years, Community Partners International (CPI) has provided health services, humanitarian aid, research, and development support to underserved populations in Myanmar, impacting over one million lives annually.

Recognizing the critical need to strengthen human resources for health (HRH), CPI launched a scholarship program in 2022 in partnership with Khon Kaen University, Thailand, enabling 17 public health professionals to pursue a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. This initiative addressed significant barriers to advanced education, including high tuition fees and scarce international scholarships.

Building on this success, CPI expanded the program in 2023, awarding 20 scholarships and partnering with the ASEAN Institute for Health Development at Mahidol University, Thailand. In October 2024, CPI further strengthened its efforts by signing an MoU with Mahidol University’s Faculty of Graduate Studies, extending scholarships to five specialized master’s programs:

  • Biomedical and Health Informatics
  • Public Health
  • Population and Sexual & Reproductive Health
  • Primary Health Care Management
  • ASEAN Studies for Sustainable Development

Since 2022, CPI has provided full or partial scholarships to 58 professionals helping bridge HRH gaps and supporting the well-being of underserved communities in Myanmar.
